 There are many monks who have completed 3-9 years of continuous meditations practice under many goenpas in different places. Those monks who have completed rigorous meditations for long time and have not much work to do in their goenpas are being brought together and asked to provide religious service to people through Chang Gidaphu Lhakhar Chitshog in Thimphu. Thimphu was chosen because a large number of Bhutanese people live here and hence a variety of religious ceremonies are also required.
Although there are other monks in Thimphu, yet there are occasions where ordinary people are not able to afford religious services. So it is hoped that the establishment of Chang Gidaphu Lhakar Chetshog would help people. The offerings that are being made for the services by the people, if there is any, are being used for construction/renovation of Drubdeys and Goendeys and for providing food,, buying books and also for the monks. This not only benefits the people but also accumulates merit for the people who are making offerings. So keeping the above intentions in mind, a total of ten to twelve monks who have completed long years of meditation are constantly made available to help people by way of conducting Rimdos/recitations as and when requested.
